ABOUT THE DINNER
The Goldwater Institute’s 2014 Dinner and auction will be held on Friday, October 24 at the Arizona Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix. Keynote remarks will be delivered by New York Times best-selling author, humorist, and political satirist P. J. O’Rourke and other soon-to-be-announced speakers. All donations will support the Institute’s nationwide efforts to use the power of state constitutions to defend and expand every American’s constitutional rights.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the late Senator Barry Goldwater’s historic 1964 campaign for President of the United States. The Senator’s infamous campaign slogan—In Your Heart You Know He’s Right—still lives with each of us today. He was not an echo of other politicians of the time, but instead offered an opportunity for America to end a dangerous centralization of power in Washington. Mr. Conservative’s campaigns, words, principles and ideas changed the course of our great nation. He inspired millions to question Washington and return to the wisdom of our Founding Fathers and documents. In 2014, we celebrate the late Senator’s courageous campaign for the White House and honor his principled values that serve as the platform for the Goldwater Institute’s work.
New York Times best-selling author, humorist, and political satirist P. J. O’Rourke will entertain us with his trademark wit and commentary. A Cato Institute fellow, contributing editor to The Weekly Standard, and best-selling author, O’Rourke is one of the nation’s most sought-after speakers in the conservative movement, and he never fails to deliver an incisive remark at every turn.
U.S. Senator Tom Coburn’s priorities in the Senate include reducing wasteful spending, protecting your liberty, balancing the budget, improving health care access and affordability, protecting the sanctity of all human life – including the unborn – and representing traditional, Oklahoma values.
